Outpost 2 is built on a proven platform, the GENESIS32™ OPC web-enabled HMI/SCADA suite from ICONICS. ICONICS is an award-winning Microsoft Gold Certified Partner provider of Web-enabled, OPC-based, HMI/SCADA Visualization and Manufacturing Intelligence software for Microsoft Windows operating systems, including the new Windows Vista™. Open to the Core
ICONICS has a fully open architecture, using OPC extensively. OPC is the most widely used open protocol in the SCADA industry. It allows different vendor products to communicate with each other without needing to write drivers from one product to another. One of the best features of OPC is the way an OPC server "publishes" tags to the network, so an OPC client can view the tags in a Windows Explorer style hierarchy, rather than having to know the obscure naming convention for the tags from that manufacturer.
ICONICS platform is "OPC-To-The-Core™", meaning that each component (the trend system, the alarm system, the graphical HMI, etc.) all have OPC interfaces. This means the system is totally open, without requiring users to be locked into one supplier.
ICONICS also fully supports the OPC Unified Architecture (OPC-UA) standard, a robust, secure and scalable expansion of the highly successful basic COM/DCOM-based OPC standard communication protocol. OPC-UA allows the interoperability of best-of-breed real-time, alarm management and historian systems. This allows for a standard model of plant floor integration with the enterprise. Any plant system that is currently using OPC communications can easily add OPC-UA applications to their existing system, giving them the added value of Web services that allow for more enterprise connectivity.

Advanced Functionality
SCADA systems usually consist of graphic screens (the human machine interface), trends, alarms and reporting and GENESIS32 is no exception. The Outpost system demonstrates a lot of the basic capabilities of GENESIS32. More advanced users may appreciate multiple other features of GENESIS2. GENESIS32 has drag and drop ActiveX controls for trends and alarms. Users can go into configuration mode, drag an alarm ActiveX onto a page and go back into runtime mode in a few seconds. The same can be done with trend screens.
Data points on a screen can be simply dragged onto a trends window to instantly start trending. Alternatively, users can browse through OPC tags and select the ones that are required. Historical tags can be selected just as easily. And all this can be done while the SCADA system is running.

The new face of technology for Lift Stations and Pump Stations. The MultiSmart Pump Station Manager provides a telemetry / SCADA solution with a wealth of asset management data. The product combines a PLC, RTU, pump controller and control panel components thereby reducing control panel cost, operations costs and energy and CO2 emissions. DNP3 and MODBUS protocols ensure connection to any SCADA system.
