MultiSmart Pump Station Manager

The MultiSmart Pump Station Manager is the new face of technology for monitoring and control of water and wastewater Pump Stations. MultiSmart is a comprehensive and easy to use replacement for pump controllers, PLCs and RTUs backed by a 5-year warranty and free software upgrades for the life of the product.

Flow - Calculated or from a Flow Meter

The MultiSmart Pump Station Manager has an optional flow module. This flow module will:
  • Calculate flow rates without needing a flow meter - simply using the volumes of the wet well
  • Use a flow meter where installed to bring back instantaneous flow (from the 4-20 mA) and totalized flow (from the pulse counter)
Across a network of Pump Stations, the same page on the MultiSmart unit will show flow, regardless of how it is derived.

Another advantage to standardizing on the flow module is: SCADA use.  Flow values are all identified as the same tags, regardless of how the flow values are derived. This reduces integration costs requird to bring flow data back from each Pump Station into a standard page, and into daily/weekly/monthly reports.

Benefits of Flow Calculations

Most Pump Stations do not have flow meters because they are costly to install and require re-calibration.

When you use MultiSmart, calculating flow becomes a minor exercise with major benefits:
  • Preventative maintenance indicators based on flow rates for each pumps
  • Engineering data concerning flow volumes ensures accurate planning and capital works upgrades
  • Comparing station flows during wet weather events allows easier visibility of infiltration issues

How do I get the Flow Module for my MultiSmart Installation?

If your MultiSmart hasn't been shipped, submit a Purchase Order for that module and your unit will arrive with the Flow module installed.

If your MultiSmart is already installed, the module can be easily enabled by entering a new Site Key. Give your MultiTrode Sales Manager your Site Code and a Purchase Order for the additional module. To find the Site Code, go into the Settings menu, press More, More, (to get to settings screen 3 of 3) and Software Modules. Select Enable/Disable Modules. This screen shows which modules are installed in the unit. Press Modify to see your 12-digit Site Code. When you have your new Site Key, enter it in this screen.

Where Not to use "Flow Calculations"

There are two installation types which don't work well for flow calculation from volumetrics:
  • VFD Pump Stations
  • Fill/pump up stations (e.g. pumping up to a reservoir, booster stations)
However, if you have a flow meter at these stations, and want to view the flow statistics and accumulators on the flow page, then you should still use the flow module.

I would extend my congratulations of one on the best I&C improvements to the water and wastewater market that I have seen in the past 10 years! From an engineer's point of view the Multismart unit has been one the best conceived water and wastewater lift and pumping station controllers on the market today.

I recently got a look at the MultiSmart controllers that you’ve created, and you’ve done well to package a good set of features into an attractive design and HMI-friendly product. I look forward to continuing to cover your efforts in the future.

MultiSmart will almost certainly play a large part in helping Thames Water achieve its goals in the near future. The fact you have put everything in a single box with ease of use, advanced intelligence and included a modern outstation means we can simplify our pump station switchboard design, save money on capital and operational expenditure as well as mitigate many of our current risks. I look forward to working closely with MultiTrode so we can get the most out of a pretty impressive product.

The City of Tavares has been using the Multismart products for just under a year. I can't imagine how we did it before; we can now monitor and control every station with speed and with the accuracy of information we require. We have also found the flow calculations invaluable for I&I studies during rain events. Our experience with the product and tech support to date has been excellent. We highly recommend Multitrode and its products. The City of Tavares have standardized on MultiTrode products and stand by them.

We have tested and installed 6 Multismart pump station managers over the past 6 months and I wish to let you know that we have been very pleased with the performance and ease of installation. The field staff have saw the benefits over float controls, and over our next water plan we will be looking to convert all our stations. The specification for sewer stations now incorporates the Multismart as standard for pumping station management and control. For the past 12 years in the UK, with Scottish Water, I installed only the Siemens Enviroranger (LUC 500).This is an excellent and reliable pump controller, however, after testing Multismart, we have been pleased to find it is reliable, easier for operators to use, and offers additional monitoring capabilities over any other pump controllers I have used.
Frank McShane, Manager of Operations, East Gippsland Water Authority, Australia

The MultiSmart installation was the easiest thing I ever did
